About

Hi I am Thijmen!

I’m an Industrial Design Engineering student with a hands-on mindset and a strong focus on problem solving. I enjoy working in collaborative, high-energy environments where ideas move quickly and teams come together to make things happen. I get excited about tackling real-world challenges and turning them into meaningful design opportunities.

What I do:

Contribute across the full design process with a flexible skillset:

  • Strategic Thinking – exploring user value, feasibility, and business model alignment
  • Team Facilitation – project planning, taking initiative, keeping momentum
  • User Research – field observations, user testing, and impact analysis
  • Concept Development – ideation, framing design opportunities, storytelling
  • Prototyping – building physical models, assembling electronics, testing interactions
  • Visual Communication – sketching, concept visuals, presentation design, video creation

I enjoy switching between roles depending on what a project needs—whether that’s digging into user insights, building something tangible, or leading the team from idea to outcome.

What I am eager to learn:

I’m always looking for new ways to grow. I want to gain more experience in a professional studio setting: understanding how teams collaborate, make creative decisions, and turn ideas into real, meaningful products and/or services.

I’m especially curious to explore:

  • How design direction takes shape within a team
  • How to balance creativity with constraints like time, budget, and production
  • How to communicate ideas to clients in a way that inspires and aligns

I hope to find more clarity in which direction I want to go within the field of design—by experiencing different types of projects, roles, and perspectives during a future internship. I’m excited to learn from experienced designers, contribute with energy and initiative, and continue to improve my skills.
